Do You Repair Fiberglass Pools?
The answer to that question is no.
Fiberglass pools can’t be repaired. If you have a fiberglass pool in your garden and it starts leaking, you need to have it replaced.
Rod Cameron can’t install a new fiberglass pool for you, but we can build you a concrete pool.
Concrete pools last longer and are easier to maintain. Add a marbled surface, and your pool will look great and be easy to clean for many years to come.
What About Pebbled Pools?
Yes, pebble pools are repairable. But, there is one major problem. Finding a leak in a pebbled pool is much more challenging.
As most pebbled pool surfaces are not smooth, identifying the area of the leak is hard. You will often find that when a pebble pool starts leaking, it has sprung a leak in more places than one.
One of the main issues with pebbled pools is that pebbled surface can become porous after some time. Once your pebble pool has started to look, you can find yourself going on a witch hunt for other leaks.
Leaks are very much part of the natural degradation of pebble surfaced swimming pools. To save our clients money, we always recommend concrete pools with a marbled surface.
Can You Replace Pool Surfaces?
Pool restorations and pool renovations are two of the things that we specialise in here at Rod Cameron.
We would take the old surface off and check the concrete. On occasion, you will find that you may have to fix the concrete as well as adding a new surface to the pool.
All pools can leak, but leaks affect pebbled pools more than marbled pools. All of the river rocks or small pebbles in the material can cause damage to the concrete structure.
We recommend our clients check their pools even when they are not using them.You should check the water level in your pool at least once per week. If you notice that it is going down, you should give us a call immediately.
The water in a leaking pool can disappear surprisingly quickly. Any indication that you have a severe leak may be damp or sunken patches in your lawn.
You may also notice sunken tiles or paving slabs in and around your pool area. It means the water is leaking into the ground causing the ground to shift or sink.
This is what we would call a major leak. If you notice this, you need to give us a call as soon as possible.
How Long Does It Take To Repair A Pool Leak?
It depends on how bad the leak is. Clearly, it is going to take us longer to repair a major leak.
When we repair a leak, we also check that all of your pool equipment including pumps and filtration systems are working okay. They do not generally cause problem, but pumps have been known to leak.
Does maintenance prevent pool leaks? It goes without saying that good maintenance helps to prevent pool leaks. Keeping your pool free from debris that gets into filters and pumps will prevent equipment damage.
In the busy season when your pool is being used a lot, you should clean it with a pool vacuum everyday. Debris and other matter often fall into the pool when it is busy.
Some of the debris may only be small, but could particularly in a pebbled pool surface, work its way into the surface.
How Much Does It Cost to Repair A Leaking Pool?

When Should I Upgrade My Pool?
It is a good idea to think about upgrading or restoration your pool once in a while.
Marbled pool surfaces last longer and continue to look their best for a longer period of time as well. But, we have to admit that many pebbled pool owners have their pools restored much more frequently.
If you added glass to the original pebble mix, you may find it loses its lustre after a couple of years. That makes the pool look dirty and less inviting to swim in.
Removing pebbled surfaces is a popular upgrade and so is adding a pool heater system.
